I. The apostle Paul writes, build correctly(1Cor.3:10-15)because"the day"[0] shall declare it, because

A. Why is it neccessary to build a building?
1. Because JESUS said that He would His Church "without hands" / Not earthly / natural but Spiritual

7. We do not know if we (today) are that "last (alive and remaining) generation"(1Thes.4:13-18)

B. Why do we need to "Take heed how we build?"

1. This "fire" is the Word of the Lord trying / testing / making the Church accountable
and burning away all the "chaff" / also the tares being bundled and burned at the
same time that wheat had come to maturity. (

day of atonement

Neh.4:12, Rev.2:10, ) NOTE: The Word of the Lord tried Joseph (Psa.105:19,
Gen.37-45)This trying and testing is within the Purpose of God (
God has a purpose for you within His Purpose!
(2) A shaking / storm came against both Houses (Matt.7:24-26)
(a) Wise man s / heard and did (Matt.7:24-26)
(b) Foolish man heard and did nothing
(3) Noah heard and "did" / Protected (Gen.6:1-22; 7:1-24, 2Peter.2:5; 3:1-9 /

3. Paul was writing to "every man" in the Corinthian Church and to the entire Church (the
Body of Christ) from the 1st Cent. to our present time. (1Cor.1:1-2)
4. Paul was saying you are accountable to build correctly according to my blueprint (that JESUS
taught him Gal.1:11-12) as a wise master builder / architect. As it was in the days of Noah (2Peter.3:7)
Matt.24:3,36-37, Heb.11:7, Eph.1:4; 2:1-22; 3:1-12, 4:1-16)
5. Another reason that Paul is not speaking of the Second Coming is that not every man (human being)
has Christ as their foundation / beginning (1Cor.3:10)

b. For all have sinned and come short (Rom.3:23)
c. We were dead in trespasses and sins...fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind;
and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. (Eph.2:1-2)

a. If you build "upon this foundation" (Christ Jesus) with wood, hay and stubble your building
"shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself (i.e. you) shall be saved; yet so as by fire. (Lot)

(1) There is a building process as it was in the days of Noah (Where we are today with everyday that

4. If this (1Cor.3:13-15) is at the Second Coming, then why are these buildings being tested?
a. At the Second Coming "the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of
the archangel, and with the trump of God" (The Mystery of God is finished! Acts.3:18-24, Rev.10:7;
11:15)
(1) And the dead in Christ shall rise first.
(a) This is guaranteed (God has promised, given assurance, gave His word (of honor), pledge, vow,
oath, bond, commitment, covenant.because they are in Christ)
(b) However they did not live long enough (along with those of the Old Testament that died in
faith) to be alive and remain when Christ returns
Therefore "the fire shall try every man's work (building) of what sort it is" MUST take place
BEFORE the Second Coming because it is part of the Mystery of God is finished 1Thes.4:13-18,
Acts.3:18-24, Rev.10:7; 11:15)
(d) NOTE: There is an accounting ( )
(2) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the
clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. (1Cor.15:51-52, 1Thes,4:13-18)
(a) This is automatic because they are in Christ
(b) Therefore "the fire shall try every man's work (building) of what sort it is" MUST take place
BEFORE the Second Coming.
(c) The Mystery of God is finished 1Thes.4:13-18, Acts.3:18-24, Rev.10:7; 11:15)

(3) And so shall we ever be with the Lord because the Mystery of God is finished. "Wherefore
comfort one another with these words.

2. In the first Century AD (after the day of Pentecost) JESUS "began to..." (Acts.1:1) build His Church

a. After the death of the last apostle John (approx.100 AD?) the building began to be neglected[0]

stones and others are are build with wood, Hay and stubble. (1Cor.3:10-15) "Every man's work shall be

man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a
reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as

2. According to the grace of God
a. Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord and built(Gen.6:1-22, Matt.24:36-37, Heb.11:7)
(1) Found grace (Gen.6:8, Eph.2:1-9)
(2) In the eyes of the Lord (Gen.6:8-9, 2Chron.16:9; 20:32; 24:2; 25:2, 1Peter.3:4, 12)
(3) Peter writes that "the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept
in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."

b. Why did God chose Noah and not the others whose imaginations were only wicked continually?
(1) God is not willing that any should perish
(a) In the example of Cain and Abel God respected the "offering" not the person(Gen.4:1-4)
(b) God heard their (Israels) groanings, God remember His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and
Jacob... and had respect unto them." (Exod.24-25)
(c) God said, "when I see the blood I will pass over you" (i.e. however was in that house with
the blood on struck "on the two side posts and upper door post" (Exod.12:13)
(d) Peter:- God is no respecter of persons / God does not play favorites (Acts.10:34, Jam.2:9)
(e) No difference between us (Gentile) and them (Jew) (Acts.15:, Eph.2:11-22)
Note: This is consistent with God's original purpose before the world began
(i.e. foundation of the world). (Eph.1:4; 2:1-22; 3:1-12, 1Peter,18-20)
(2) Look at their lifestyle
(a) Evil continually (Gen.1:1-7)
(b) They knew not until the flood came (Ark built under their noses) / Blind
(c) They had a 100+ years to find out
(3) Everyone (not just Noah) had these witnesses (Matt.24:14 "for a witness")
(a) Sun, Moon and Stars / Creation / Declare the glory of God / Day unto day, night unto
night" / Without excuse (Rom.1:20-21, Gen.1:1-31, Psa.19:1-4, 2Chron.16:9)
(b) No language where their voice is not heard Psa.19:1-3 (everyone spoke the same language)
(c) Garden of Eden still there because the Flood had not happened yet
(d) Man (Adam and Eve) was created in the image of God
(e) They walk with God "cool of the evening" (Gen.3:1-8)
(f) The Coats of skins|fig leaf aprons were rejected (Gen.3:1-24)
(h) Cain and Abel's Offerings / Cains rejected (no respect from God) Gen.4:1-4, 1John.3:12-13)
(i) Men began to call on the name of the Lord (Gen.4:26)

2. As a wise master builder (architect) I (Paul) have laid the foundation which is Jesus Christ
We (the saints / fellow citizens of the household of God) are built on the foundation that the
apostles and prophets "laid down...which is Christ Jesus (1Cor.3:10, Eph.2:20-22) who is also "the
chief cornerstone"[0] (Psa.11:3, Rom.9:33; 15:20,Eph.2:20; 4:11-16, Heb.6:1, 2Peter.2:1-9,
NOTE: 2Peter.2:1-3)
a. WARNING: Take heed how you build! "Let every man take heed how he buildeth (builds) thereupon.
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build
upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
b. No man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1. The Holy Spirit of God wants you to build with Gold, Silver, Precious stones
2. The spirit of antichrist wants yo to build with wood, hay and stubble
3. Look at what happens when the the seed of the word of God sown (preached to build correctly)
a. Some seed by the way side
b. Some seed fell in stony places
c. Some seed fell among the thorns
d. Some fell on good ground (But they divided into three catergories 30, 60, 100
(1) Our building cannot be unequally yoked (Matt.11:29-30,
2Cor.6:14-18) i.e. incompatiable with the foundation
(2) Don't have fellowship with the works of darkness
(John.1:5; 12:35, 2Cor.4:6, Eph.5:8)
(3) No unrighteousness or self righteousness ()
(4) No darkness ()
(5) No concord with Belial ()
(6) No infidels ()
(7) No idols ()
(8) "Come out from aming the siath the Lord, and touch
not the unclean thing (Samson)
b. When we have a VISION (an oracle from God) of what God's FINISHED HOUSE will look like,
then we can apprecate why the FOUNDATION has been laid
c. to know what the building looks like (This is sitting down first and count the cost) in order
the laid a proper foundation. This is where the "BLUEPRINT" is crucial
d. Why lay a foundation if there is no building to be constructed?
(1) The laying of a foundation commits you to build and finish the building
(2) If you do not "finish...all that behold it and begin to mock" (Luke.14:25-33)
e. God is a finisher (Phil.1:6, Prov.29:18, Acts.3:18-24, Rev.10:7; 11:15)
f. The alive and remaining generation will see the completed building. However the dead in
Christ will not be alive when the building is complete. These will be David who prepared for the
Temple but did not live long enough to see it completed
c. There needs to be a "God-given vision / Oracle" / vision (what the building will look like)
d. Who is Jesus Christ (Eph.4:11-16)
4. another buildeth (builds) thereon
a. The "another" is us THE CHURCH
C. There is a day of reckoning (When the day the building is finished)
Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by
fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built
thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself
shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
1. Every man (House) shall be tried
2. There will be a shaking (Haggai.2:1-9) / Revealed by fire Heb.12:29 consuming fire)
a. This is not the Second Coming
b. There is a "fire" judgment coming in the Church (1Peter.4:12)

a. The reward is walking in the blessing of the Lord

"Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman
waketh but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth
his beloved sleep. Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward"(Psa.127:)
A. They that labor (You can build with the Lord or you can build in vain)

B. Those that are savedare building (Redeemed / the just in Christ's blood
1. That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; / "without hands" (spiritual) and the
gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Matt.16:18, Mark.14:58, Acts.7:47-48; 17:24, Eph.2:20-22)
2. The false witnesses said Jesus said "I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three
days. (Matt.26:60-62)
3. Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the
same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

4. The wise man / correct (spiritual) foundation i.e. (Matt.7:26-28)
5. We are co-laborers together with God (1Cor.3:9)

7. The example of Noah pulls all this together for WHY we are being built
It is to preserve and protect us (that are alive and remain) at the time of
destruction of the world. (Matt.24:36-37, 2Peter.3:1-9, Heb.11:7)
a. God's knows what ahead (Psa.139:1-00)
b. There His pattern will withstand the storm that is ahead. Do not
overlook any part (jot and tittle) Take nothing for granted
8. In the meantime what we do if we will not among those that are alive
and remain at His Second Coming?
a. Allow the apostle, prophet, Evangelist, pastor and teaching perfect
us (i.e. to be fitly joined together and compacted by that which every
joint supplieth) for the work of the ministry for the edifying (building
up) of the body of Christ TILL......(Eph.4:11-16)
b. We can learn from those who have come before us (Heb.11:13-16)
9. Discipleship is allowing yourself to be built. (Luke.14;25-31)
B. Some of the saved are not building correctly.
1. The foolish man / hears but does not do (action) them
a. Dull of hear (No excise Heb.5:10-14)
b. A little folding of the hands a little sleep si shall your poverty
come on you. (Prov.24:00:00)
2. Some laying the wrong (spiritual) foundation (1Cor.3:10-15)
3. The spirit of antichrist is causing the wrong foundation
(1John.2:18-20; 4:1-4)
4. Building with wood, hay and stubble is to build foolishly (1Cor.3:10-15)
C. The unsaved (unjust / Heathen) Eph.2:1-10
1. They are walking to the desire of the flesh and of the mind (Eph.2:1-11)
2. They knew till the flood came (Matt.24:36-37, 1Thes.5:1-00)

A. Laws in Creation.
B. From Adam to Moses sin was not imputed (taken into account) but sin had entered the World. Rom.5:12
C. The Law came. "Sin revived and I died" Paul says. (Rom.7:1-14)
D. This Law was "a schoolmaster" to bring us to Christ (Gal.3:24)
E. Jesus came and brought grace and truth, by NOT destroying the Law but fulfilling it. (Matt.5:17-19)
F. Jesus (God the Word made flesh) selected 12 apostles and opened their understanding to the Law of
Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms" (Luke.24:44-45) so they would continue what He "began to do and
teach" (Acts.1:1)
G. Jesus fulfilled the Law of the Passover
H. Pentecost - Law written of the fleshly tables of the heart.(2Cor.3) There is the "Law of the Spirit the of Life in
Christ Jesus"
