What is the New Testament reality of David's Tabernacle?
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

II.  James "infallibly"[1] interprets the Tabernacle of David for us (Acts.15:1-17).

     A.  Here are events in the Book of Acts that lead to this revelation.

           (Acts 9:1-20, 10:1-44, 11:1-9, 14:1-28).
            1.  After the day of Pentecost,
[2] the 1st. Church Church was to "be witnesses unto me (Jesus) both in
                  Jerusalem,
[4] and in all Judaea,[4] and in Samaria,[4] and unto the uttermost part of the earth"

(Acts.1:8).
            2.  In the next few chapter's of Acts the Church did exactly that, with the exception of the "sect of the
which believed that Pharisees" were teaching "that it was needful to circumcise them, (the Gentiles
)[5]
and that they should keep the law of Moses"
(Acts.15:5). NOTE: The Book of Galatians.
            3.  The apostles and elders came together to consider of this matter
(Acts 15:6).
            4.  When there had been much disputing, Peter rose up and said unto them
(Acts 15:6-12)...

                 a.  Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the
Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe
 (Acts 15:7) (Acts.10:1-44; 11:1-9).
                 b.  God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did
unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith
(Acts 15:9).
                 c.  Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our
fathers nor we were able to bear
(Acts 15:10)?
                d.  But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they

                      (Acts 15:11) NOTE: 1Peter.1:18-20, Eph.1:4; 2:1-22; 3:1-12
                e.  Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what
miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them
(Acts 15:12).

            5.  And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:
                 Simeon (Peter)
[6] hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people
                 for his name
 (Acts 15:13-14).
                 a.  To this agree (in harmony with) the words of the prophets
(Isa.16:5, Amos.9:11-12) as it is written

                       (Acts 15:15 / Luke.24:13-45, Rom.3:21-31; 16:25-26, 1Peter.110-12)
                 b.  After this
I will return, and will build again the tabernacle(the cloth hut / tent)[1] of David, which
is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up
(Acts 15:16).
                 c.  That the residue (remaining)
[7]of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom
my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth (is doing) all these things
(Acts 15:17).

What James was saying by the Spirit of God this is where we are in the blueprint!  We are at the
rebuilding of the Tabernacle of David.
(REVIEW: PHASE 2, Page.3 for explanation of chart below)

      B.  The early Church failed twice to enter into the Land where the Tabernacle of Davidwas

The early Church at Jerusalem failed to except that God was now reconciling both the Jew and Gentile
together (rebuilding the Tabernacle of David) Note:
Acts.11:3,19; 15:5, Gal.2:12. They did not see that

they were only a part of God's Purpose. They had not yet seen that now they were reconciled in Christ

as "saints," and "fellowcitizens (Jew and Gentiles[0]) in the household of God" (Eph 2:16-19 i.e. Tabernacle

of David). The Hebrew Christians were admonished (1Cor.10:1-11), "today, if ye will
hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness,"

             (Heb 3:7-9, Num.14)
but rather "fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should
seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word
preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it"
(Heb 4:1-2).

            1.  The first attempt was when Philip preached at Samaria
(Acts 2:14-39).

The Church at Jerusalem had kept the presence of God exclusively to themselves
(Acts.1:8; 2-8,
                   Acts.2:1; 8:5-17).
This was not God's intention (Eph.3:1-12,Note:v.9) or purpose. It was to "as many as
the Lord our God shall call"
(Acts.2:39 / Note: The words "afar off" /stranger's, Acts.2:39, Eph.2:13).

                 a.  Pentecost was not the end, as Sinai was not the end of Israel's journey (Num.14:1-45).
The Spirit of God did not stop leading the Church into all truth
(John.16:12-13) after the day of
Pentecost. There was still a purpose, i.e. "Land"
(Deut.12:1-12, Heb.4:1-11) to possess. They were to
be a witness in "Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth,"
(Acts.1:8) and
to come to the "full measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ"
(Eph.2:1-22; 3:1-12; 4:11-16;
                        5:21-33
). This is exactly according to the pattern /blueprint. Mt. Sinai (Jerusalem) was not the end
of the journey. (See chart below) God's purpose for them was
 to possess the "land" and

ultimately stop at the completion of Solomon's Temple (Deut.12:1-12, Eph.2:20-22).

                 b.  What is the reality of the "land" in the New Covenant
(1Cor.10:11, Rom.15:4)?

The reality of the "land" is the heathen for an inheritance,
(Heb.3:7-19; 4:1-11, Psa.2:8; 33:12; 94:14 /
                        Eph.1:18)
"as lively stones" (1Peter.2:5, 1Kings.5:13-18; 6:7) "built upon the foundation (1Cor.3:10-11)
of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone. In whom all the
building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy  temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded
together for an habitation of God through the Spirit"
(Eph.2:20-22).  This was foreshadowed for us

by Solomon's Temple. (Review: Phase. 2, Page.1) Remember, the Temple is people.

                 c.  Abraham was not looking for the natural / earthly city of Jerusalem.

He was looking for a "heavenly city," in a "heavenly" land.
Solomon's Temple was the center

of the earthly City of Jerusalem pointing to the heavenly (Note: Heb.11:15-16; 12:18-23).

                      (1)  Earthly Jerusalem is Hagar / Ishmael.
Paul interpreted "Jerusalem that now is" (earthly / natural) to be Hagar and Ishmael, and the
                             Church to be Isaac (Gal.4:21-31).
                      (2)  Earthly Jerusalem is spiritually called "Sodom and Egypt".
John wrote that during the time of the Tribulation, the earthly Jerusalem, "where our Lord was
crucified," is  spiritually called "Sodom and Egypt"
(Rev.11:8).

I don't believe Abraham was looking for this!

                      (3)  Could it be the Wise Men depart back to their own "heavenly" counrty (Matt. 2:12)?

           2.  The second attempt was at the house of Cornelius
(Acts 10:1-48).

This was when God sent Peter to the Gentile House of Cornelius.  These Gentiles  were saved, water
baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost
(Acts.10:1-48). However, the Church at  Jerusalem (i.e. Pentecost /
Sinai) was still "preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only"
(Acts.11:19). They had "hardened"
                 their hearts through unbelief
(Note: Num.14:1-45, Heb.3:7-19; 4:1) towards the Gentiles (strangers,
heathen) being included into God's purpose and plan, as the Tabernacle of David typified. The

Gentiles were considered by the  Church at Jerusalem to be the "uncircumcised" (Acts.11:1-3; 15:1-5).                            Note: These "Pharisees which believed" (Acts.15:5) failed to realize that under the Old Covenant

God had already foretold in the "blueprint," that the stranger" (foreigner, alien) could be included in

the Covenants of promise if they would keep the Passover / Saved (Exod.12:48, 1Cor.5:7-8) and

                 be circumcised / Water Baptized (Exod.12:48, Col.2:10-12, Rom.2:28-29).

This compares to the second time (Num.20:12, 1-29) the "Church in the wilderness" failed to

enter into God's purpose (i.e. Tabernacle of David / Jew and Gentile [the stranger] together)

                 (Eph.2:11-19; 3:1-12).

            3.  On the third attempt, the 1st. century Church did enter the purpose of God
(Acts 15:7-21)!

God the Father by-passed the Church at Jerusalem (i.e. Sinai
Gal.4:25 [the older generation
                   Num.14:26-44] /
the  "Pentecost" generation Acts.2:1) "because of their unbelief" (Heb.3:7-19; 4:1-11)
and hardness of heart toward God's purpose
(Gen.12:1; 15:1-21; 50:22-26, Exod.1-12, Deut.12:1-12,
                   1Chron.17:1-15; 22:1-19 / 1Cor.10:1-11, Eph.2:20-22, Heb.11:10; 12:22).

                  a. The "Israel of God" (The Church) entered into the Tabernacle of David on the third attempt.
God reconciled the Jew and the Gentile together, (the rebuilding of the Tabernacle of David,

Acts.15:16, 1-17) and brought them into His purpose (Eph.2:1-19; 3:1-12) as "saints" and fellow

citizens of the Household of God. This is the "Israel of God" (Gal.6:15-16).

                  b. This transition took place over several years for the 1st Century Church, just as it did in the
"ensample" of the church in the wilderness
(Acts.7:38) when they came into the land (Josh.1-24).
They did not realize the truths of the Tabernacle of David until David became king.

                  c.  It took the 1st. Century Church approximately 50 years to fully realize the rebuilding

of the Tabernacle of David. (This is only about 1½-2 hours to God when "one day is with the Lord

                       as a thousand years" 2 Peter 3:8-9).[0]

However, David's Tabercacle was NOT the end of the journey. Solomon's Temple was the end
                      of the journey
(Deut.6:23; 12:1-12, 1Chron.17:1-15; 22:1-19). Review: Phase2, page.1  This is why Paul
wrote, "For this cause...(the cause that we are to be built an "holy temple"/ Solomon's Temple

Eph.2:20-22)...God...by revelation...made known unto me the mystery...that the Gentiles should be
fellow-heirs...of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ by the gospel"
(Eph.3:1-6).

The Spirit of God, through the "wise master builder" (Paul) was leading (John.16:12-13, 1Cor.2:1-14)

the 1st.Century Church into all truth by following the pattern (i.e. "ensample"/ type) of the

                      Old Testament.

C.  David's Tabernacle was a time of preparation for the ultimate purpose

In the "ensample" (type), David's Tabernacle was a preparation time for The Temple which was to be the
"Conclusion," the end of their journey, the journey which began with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

(Gen.12:1). It was "the place" (Deut.12:5) where the "church in the wilderness would "move no

more" (1Chron.17:9; 22:1-19). Up to this time, Israel knew there was a "land" (Gen.12:1; 15:1-21) and

there was "a place" (Deut.12:1-12) in the Land, but they did not know what the "place" was.

This understanding was not revealed until David's generation (Acts.13:22,36). The same was true for the

1st. Century Church. The 1st. Century Church gave up as they were "preparing". They knew about

the reality of the "land" (Heb.4:1-11) and they came as far as the reality (fulfillment) of David's

Tabernacle (Acts.15:15-17) and were preparing to be built a spiritual building...an "holy temple in the

Lord" (Eph 2:21-3:1), but they declined down into the "Dark Ages." It was as though they turned around

and went backward, away from their spiritual promised land. Approx.100 AD the early church fell back

into captive (bondage) as their forefathers experienced in Egypt!  After the death of the last apostle, John,

church history tells us that a spiritual decline began to eat away at the truths of God's Word like

the "locust...cankerworm...caterpiller, and the palmerworm" found in the Book of Joel. (Joel.2:25)

            1.  The Church has now returned, has come to the restoration of David's Tabernacle!

A review of Phase two will explain why. Keep in mind we are talking about a "season" which spreads
over a period of time. This is typified /"signified"
(Heb.9:8) by the "church in the wilderness" (Acts.7:38).

"...the children of Israel abode in their tents and journeyed not: but when it (the cloud) was taken

up, they journeyed. At the commandment of the Lord they rested in the tents, and at the

commandment of the Lord they journeyed: they kept the charge of the Lord, at the commandment

of the Lord by the hand of Moses" (Num 9:22-10:1). This is how the Spirit of God (cloud)[0] is

"guiding" the Church today (John.16:7-16, 1Cor.2:9-14).  We are presently in a "season" where the

"cloud" / Holy Spirit is resting on and restoring the truths of the Tabernacle of David.

(Review: Phase 2 for explanation of this chart)

            2. Some would say this is a long time (1948-2020 AD)

                 a.  We must keep in mind that "a day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as
                      one day"
(2Peter.3:8). 1948-2020 is seventy plus years which is only a short time before the
                      Lord. Possibly 1½-2 hours?
[13]

                 b.  Another thought:  If you have been saved within the last 70 years, you may not understand that you
have been "born again" into a Great Master Plan that "in other ages (or generations) was not made
known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed" (Eph.3:4-5). This is a time of the Lord making us
understand in His written Word by his hand upon us, even all the works of His pattern (Note: 1Chron.
28:19-20). This pattern gives a greater understanding of how to handle His presence, the order of
Worship in His Presence as well as how God wants His "Holy Temple" built (Eph.2:20-22). It is

a unique time, just as it was in King David's time.

(Review: The decline and restoration of the Church to our day)

            3.  What is the reality of Solomon's Temple for the New Testament Church?

The Temple pattern (1Chron.17-2Chron.5, 1Chron.28:19) that God  gave David (while the Tabernacle

of David was functioning) is the pattern for the "glorious Church, not having having  spot, or wrinkle,

or any such thing...a holy temple in the Lord." (John.2:18-20, 1Cor.6:19, 1Tim.3:15,

                  Eph.2:20-22; 5:26)

There is no (earthly) Temple of God "made with hands" in existence today. It was destroyed 70 AD

(Note: Acts.7:47-48,Acts.17:24). When the prophet Amos prophesied that "In that day will I (God) raise

up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the  breaches thereof; and I will raise up his

ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old" (Amos 9:11-12), he was not just prophesying about Jew

and Gentile being reconcile together in Christ. He was including the pattern of Worship and the

vision of  the Temple to house the Name of the Lord. "All this, said David, the Lord made

me understand..." (1Chron.28:19). Peter said that all the prophets "prophesied of the grace that

should come unto you" (1 Peter 1:10).

It was revealed unto them (the prophets of old), "that not unto themselves, but unto us (the

New Testament Church) they did minister the things (Tabernacle of David Acts.15:15-17) which are

now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent

down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into." (1 Peter 1:12, Matt.13:17)

Finally, my hope is that you can see how David's Tabernacle, a “cloth hut”, has significant reality for

us today. It teaches us how God's presents is available to All who are in Christ 24/7! And how He
            makes
His presents available to us through music and singing!  And how this is a stepping stone to
            what is
ahead, His "glorious Church".
