What about Heb.8:4?
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
8. A question: Jesus was of the tribe of Judah, not Levi?
Does this break the pattern? No!, "For if He (Jesus) were on earth, He (Jesus) should not be a
priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: Who serve unto the example
and shadow of heavenly things, (Col.3:1-2, Heb.3:1, 1Peter.2:5, Heb.8:1-5; 9:1-26 / Eph.2:6) as Moses was
admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all
things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. But now hath he obtained a more excellent
ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better
promises." (Heb 8:4-6) (See "What about Heb.8:4 for details)
a. If He (Jesus) were on earth, He (Jesus) should not be a priest
(1) Because Jesus was of the Tribe of Judah and the High Priest and Priesthood came from Levi,
not Judah Exod.28:1-Num.1:47-54, Matt.1:1-17; 18-25, Heb.8:4, Rev.5:5)
(2) NOTE: Paul said, "For if I build again (i.e. keeping the Law in my flesh (Gal.2:18) the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
Because according to the Law was to be a schoolmaster to bring us
to Christ (who is after the oder of Melchisedec (Melchizedek) who did not destroy the Law but fulfilled
it. (Matt.5:17-19, Rom.3:1-31; 8:1-4, Gal.3:24)
b. More excellent better promises.
(1) More excellent (surpassing / differing / divers / more excellent) because He (JESUS) had paid
the price for sin, "once (Heb.10:10) for all." (1Cor.6:19-20, Heb.10:10)
(2) More excellent because "He ever liveth for ever to make reconciliation (Heb 8:4-6)
(3) Better promises because we cannot "fulfill the righteousness of the law (Rom.3:10-23)
(a) Better - Strong's
(b) Seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: Who serve unto the example
and shadow of heavenly things,
(3) Is God now NOW saying to forget about the Aaronic Priesthoodchanging the rules? No! He did not change (Mal.3:)
(a) On earth...offer gifts according to the law"
(b) Why would He?
(c) Jesus fulfilled (completed) the Law (Matt.5:17-19)
(2) serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, (Col.3:1-2, Heb.3:1, 1Peter.2:5,
Heb.8:1-5; 9:1-26 / Eph.2:6)
(3) Called of God as Aaron was (why bring this comparison if the Melchisedek priesthood
is to be ignored and a dead letter.
(4) Right NOW He is "A FAITHFUL HIGH PRIEST" forever making intercession for us every
day fulfilling what Aaron did "once a year" (Heb.10:1-25, Matt.5:17-19)
(a) .
(b) NOTE: He is also going to abide by the pattern of Marriage for the High Priest also
(5) Jesus is made a High priest for ever (Heb.5:10-14; 6:20)
(a) The High Priest is found in the Law (Exod.28:1, Lev.16, Heb.9:8)
(b) In fact every religion in the world has copied the pattern given in the Law of Moses
seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: Who serve unto the example
and shadow of heavenly things,
b. For "if He (Jesus) were on earth, He (Jesus) should not be a Levitical priest"
(1) The Levitical priesthood could not take away sin (Heb.7:11)
Jesus could not justify us as a High Priest under the Levitical priesthood, because
the Law was "incomplete!" It only exposed sin. (Rom.7:7-14, Heb.9:1-26; 10:1-10,
Matt.5:17-19) It served as a "schoolmaster" to bring us to Christ who fulfills
(completes) the Law and takes away sin. (Gal.3:24, Heb.9:1-10)
(2) There is nothing wrong with the Levitical priesthood
It is holy, just, good and spiritual! It bears witness (agree's with) the Grace of God
(the Melchisedec priesthood) through Jesus Christ. (Rom.3:20-31) The problem is
you and me! (Rom.7:7-25) God's solution, eliminate us by Crucify (Gal.2:20) and
bury us (Rom.6:1-11) with Christ. Then resurrecting us with Christ to walk in new-
ness of life as a new creation in Christ Jesus. (2Cor.5:17-21)
(3) Melchisedec priesthood "more glorious"
Now the office of the High Priest has been "completed" in it's fulness in Christ Jesus and taken to
another "Glory." (2Cor.3:1-18, Rom.3:20, Matt.5:17-19) Note: For "the law (of the Levitical high
priest) was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ." (our High Priest after the order of
Melchisedec) (Gal.3:24, Heb.3:1, Matt.5:17-19) It was the blueprint for Christ to build His Church
by. (Matt.16:18, 1Cor.3:10- 15, Eph.2:20-22, 1Peter.2:5)
(4) Now our only justification is in Christ Jesus.
"For what the law (the Levitical Law) could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh,
(Rom.7:7-10) God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin
in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh,
but after the Spirit." (Rom 8:3-5)
b. But now hath He (Jesus) obtained a more excellent () ministry
Now Jesus ("after the order of Melchisedec" Heb.5:10; 6:20; 7:1-28) "is the mediator of a better
(stronger) covenant, which was established upon better (stronger) promises." (Heb 8:4-6) It is "better"
(stronger) because in the Tabernacle of Moses "The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the
holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle (of Moses) was yet standing:
Which was a "figure"[0] for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
Christ's blood removes sin. "But this man, (Phil.2:1-11,2Tim.3:16) after he had
offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, ("once for all"-Heb.10:10) sat down on the right hand of God."
(Heb.10:12-13)
(1) God still requires a sacrifice. This is "confirmed" fulfilled in Jesus the Lamb of God. (1Peter.1:18-20)
(2) God still requires the shedding of blood fulfilled in Jesus (Heb.9:21-22)
(3) God still requires the sacrifice to be place on the Altar fulfilled in Jesus (Heb.13:10)
(4) God still requires the sweet smelling savor from the sacrifice fulfilled in Jesus (Eph.5:1-2)
(Review: The Offerings, Pages 1 and 2)
Note: God has NOT changed! His patterns are "unchangeable," no shadow of turning. God is NOT
"double minded." (James.1:17, Mal.3:6) The "better" and the "more excellent ministry" is because
Christ's blood removed sin according to the same pattern as the the Old Covenant. (Remember:
The Old Covenant pattern is "an example and shadow of heavenly things" where we are seated with
Christ.- Heb.8:5, Eph.1:3; 2:6)
The apostle Paul says the law "was glorious," (2Cor.3:7) but the New Testament "written on the
"fleshly tables of our heart," (in it's reality / completion / fulfilment) is even more glorious."
(2Cor.3:1-18)
V. A pre-Cross revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ.
"In the beginning was the Word, (Jesus) and the Word (Jesus) was with God, and the Word (Jesus) was God.
(John.1:1-14, 1John.5:7)
1. There are three that bear record in heaven
a. The Father God. (1John.5:7, Gen.1:1)
b. The Word. (1John.5:7, John.1:1-5; 5:17-18; 17:5 [Isa.42:8], Col.1:16-18, Heb.1:1-2)
c. The Holy Ghost. (1John.5:7)
2. Jesus become the "only begotten Son" when He was born of the virgin Mary
(Matt.1:18-25) Therefore it is not a strange thing for Him to appear as Melchisedec before this
time. He was the "forth man" in the fiery furnace, (Dan.3:25) and "the Captain of the Lord's Host."
(Josh.5:13-15)
Why then is the Hebrew and Greek word say "
