The Church in the wilderness was lead by a "trumpet sound."
In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation." (Lev 23:24-26) This is the opening of the seventh month, in preparation for the 10th. day "the day"of atonement. The blood of the Passover Lamb (Exod.12:1-50) set the children of Israel free from the bondage of Egypt, (Gen.12:1; 15:1-15; Exod.1:14) God lead them through the Red Sea (Exod.13:17-22) and to Mt. Sinai. (Exod.19:1-3) There He structured "the church in the wilderness" (Exod.25:8-40, Acts.7:38) in "order" before they continued (Num.9:15-23; 10:1-10) in their purpose, which was to enter and possess the land promised to Abraham. (Gen.12:1; 15:1-21; Deut.12:1-12; 1Chron.17:1-15; 22:1-19) This order included being lead by a "trumpet sound" (Num.10:1-10) In all of their everyday living, every 7th. month, (Lev.23:23-24) every 49th. year and 50th. year. (Lev.25:1-22)
The reality of "trumpets in the New Testament Church
The apostle and "wise master builder" (1Cor.3:10 -Paul) wrote, "For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?" (1 Cor 14:8-9) The context is theprophetic voice of the Spirit of God, through the gifts of the Spirit. (1Cor.12:1-3; Psa. 115:4-8)
(Note: Some mistakenly think these trumpets point to the Pre-Tribulation Rapture)
1. Trumpets foreshadows the Prophetic Voice Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that
ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb (no voice) idols, even as ye were led.
(1Cor.12:1-2, Hab.2:18-20, 1Kings.18:29) The apostle Paul was telling the Corinthian
Church that there is a true voice / trumpet of God through the gifts of the Spirit. In his
second letter (epistle) he also warned that there is also "another" Jesus, and "another"
gospel, and "another" spirit. (counterfeit gifts / trumpet
- 2Cor.11:1-15) During the Tribulation, the false prophet
will give power to the image of the beast that it would
"speak." (Note: Exod.7:8-13, 2Thes.2:9) This voice is the
dragon's voice, (Rev.13:4) because the image is a
"dumb [no voice] idol." Another counterfeit of the gifts
of the Spirit. (Note: 1John.2:18-19; 4:1-4, 2Thes.2:7)
There is a Godly prophetic / trumpet voice and there
is an ungodly prophetic / trumpet voice.
Note: It is the false prophet (Rev.13:14; 19:20) that
gave the image a voice.
a. John heard a trumpet as of a "voice" John was "in the Spirit" and heard a voice "as of a trumpet." (Rev.1:10) and he wrote,"He that hath an ear,
(Matt.13:10-17) let him hear what theSpirit (i.e. the
trumpet - Rev.1:10)saith unto the Churches."
(Rev.1:10; 2:7, 11, 17, 29; 3:6, 13, 22, Heb.12:18-25) b. The mouth of David / prophetic voice / trumpet
Peter says, "the Holy Ghostby themouth of David
spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to
them that took Jesus." (Acts 1:16-17; 2:30; 4:25)
God'svoice through David.
c. Prophetic voice / Trumpet by the mouth of Isaiah
God spoke "by the mouth" of all His holy prophets.
(Acts.2:18; 3:21) This included Isaiah who was told
to "lift upthy voice like a trumpet." "Cry aloud, spare
not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people
their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins."
(Isa 58:1-2, Hosea.8:1) Prophetic voice / trumpet by
the Prophet.
d. Revelation trumpetsare also called "Voices" For "the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a
shout, with the voiceof the archangel, and with the trump of God: (The 7th. trump / last trump) and the
dead in Christ shall rise first" (1Thes.4:16-17 / Rev.8:1-
14 "voices")
2. The Prophetic voice of the Spirit of God should be part of our Church life
The "sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an
ordinance for ever throughout your generations. And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy
that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered
before the Lord your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies. Also in the day of your
gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the
trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may
be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the Lord your God." (Num.10:8-10)
The "church in the wilderness" (Acts.7:38, 1Cor.10:1-11) was about to leave Sinai and
journey towards the Land promised to Abraham. (Num.10:14-36) This was the purpose for
bringing Israel out of Egypt. (Gen.12:1; 15:1-21, 50:22-26; Exod.1-12, Deut.6:23; 12:1-12,
1Chron.17:1-15; 22:1-19)
(Click here for explanation of chart)
a. War was part of Israel's journey If "ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then (the sons of Aaron,
the priests) shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; (the prophetic voice) and ye shall be
remembered before the Lord your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
(1) We wrestle / War It is part of our journey For "we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high
places." (Eph.6:12) (1Cor.9:7, 2Cor.10:4)
(2) War a good warfare Paul told Timothy, "this charge I commit...according to the prophecies (prophetic
sound / trumpet) which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good
warfare." (1Tim.1:18)
b. Israel's calendar centered around these Feasts days The sons of Aaron, the priests were to blow the trumpets (the prophetic voice) in the day of
your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months.
(Note: Exod.12:2)
(1) Remember: The feasts
They are a shadow of "things to come; (Col.2:16-17)
but the body is of Christ. (i.e. The reality, the
fulfillment, completion is in the Body of Christ.
Matt.5:17-19, Eph.1:22-23, Col.1:18)
(2) New Testament calendar As in the "type," the calendar of the New Testament
Church is center around the
fulfillment (the reality) of the Feast days.
(a) Review Passover (b) Review Pentecost (c) Review Tabernacles.
(3) Prophetic voice with calendar Just as the trumpets were blown during the
celebration of the Feast days, the prophetic
voice of God sounds during the fulfillment of the
Feasts today.
(a) Some hear (Matt.13:10-17, John.10:27,
Rev.2:7, 17, 29; 3:6,13, 22))
(b) Some are "dull of hearing" (Heb.5:11-14,
Matt.13:15)
(c) Some ignore, reject the sound. (Acts.2:13 These
were "devout men"v.5)
c. The Levitical offerings were everyday The sons of Aaron, the priests shall blow with the
trumpets over the burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices
of the peace offerings; that they may be....a memorial
before God. (Num.10:8-10)
(1) We are the fulfillment of the Priesthood today. You are "a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that
ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into
his marvelous light." (1Peter.2:9, Rev.1:6; 5:10)
(2) The pattern (blueprint) calls for the prophetic voiceover our offerings As we offer spiritual sacrifices (1Peter.2:5-9, Rev.1:6; 5:10, Rom.12:1-2, Heb.13:15,
Phil.4:18) in our everyday walk before the Lord, His (anointed / prophetic) Word should
be sounded.
(3) For example: Noah Hiseveryday walk before the Lord Noah was directed him by a prophetic Word from
God as he built the Ark according to the "fashion" (blueprint) (Gen.6:1-22, Heb.11:7,
Luke.17:26-30) As we build according to the pattern of God's Word, we are building
prophetically. It is the reality of the trump sound over our spiritual sacrifices.
(4) Another example: Lot God "delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that
righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul
from day to day with their unlawful deeds." (2Peter.2:7-8) "For that righteous man" Lot
was not listening for any prophetic Word. Lot was building with "wood, hay and stubble!"
(1Cor.3:12-15, Col.2:8, 1Cor.1:20-29; 2:1-14) The "trumpets" were not sounding over
his everyday life! Lot was seeing the wrong thing. Lot was hearing the wrong things
and it "vexed (discourage, torture) his righteous soul from day to day" (2Peter.2:8)
These trumpets were made of one piece of silver
Make "thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps." (Num 10:2-3)
1. Silver typifies Redemption / atonement Every "one that passeth among them that are numbered, half a (silver Exod.38:25) shekel
after the shekel of the sanctuary: (a shekel is twenty gerahs:) an half shekel shall be the offering
of the Lord. Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and
above, shall give an offering unto the Lord." (Exod.30:13-15)
a. Same silver price for everyone
(1) The rich shall not give more. (Exod.30:13-15, Acts.10:34) in our Redemption from sin.
(2) The poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering unto the Lord,
to make an atonement for your souls. (Exod.30:13-15)
b. There is "no respecter of persons"(same "price"- 1Cor.6:20)
Peter writes, "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things,
as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
(Old Testament / Covenant Exod.30:13-15) But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a
lamb without blemish and without spot." (1Peter.1:18-19) The atonement silver was "vain"
(profitless, empty4) because it incomplete. It could never take away sin. (Heb.10:1-10) It
was a "figure" (a type, a shadow, a model)
2. The prophetic voice is a "silver" redemptive sound
Follow after charity, (agape - God's love 1Cor.13:1-8) and desire spiritual gifts, but rather
that ye may prophesy. For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men,
but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. But
he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort." (1Cor.14:1-3) A Redemptive sound. Not a judgement sound
___________________________________________________________________
Note: If the trumpet sound you are hearing is not a Redemptive sound and does not
edify, and comfort. Your responsibility (as a "priest" before the Lord) is to "know them which
labor among you" (1Thes.5:1) "prove all things" (1Thes.5:21) by God's written Word. Then your
responsibility as a good and faithful steward is to "hold fast that which is good" and don't pass
off your responsibilities as a priest. The Corinthian Church had this problem and had to be
corrected. (1Cor.1:10-13; 3:1-8)
3. Silver trumpets made from one piece Foreshadow how we are "one new man" in Christ Jesus. (Eph.2:1-19)
a. Christ is the head. (Eph.1:22-23, Col.1:18-19)
b. We are the Body of Christ. (1Cor.12-14) Only Aaron and his sons could blow the trumpets
"And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blowwith the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations." (Num 10:8-9) Their trumpet sound went throughout the entire Nation. (Church in the wilderness) No one with a "hearing ear" could miss thissoundunless they choose to reject it.(Num 10:9-11) (Numbers and layout based upon Numbers.1-3)
1. The "sons of Aaron"foreshadow the Eph.4:11 ministries The reason for this conclusion is because Aaron and his sons blew to the entire Nation,
the entire "church in the wilderness." (Num.10:8-9, Acts.7:38, 1Cor.10:11) The Lord said to
Moses, "Make "thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou
mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps."
(Num 10:2-5, 1Cor.10:1-11, Rom.15:4) The only ministries given to the universal / world wide
Church are the apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastors and teachers. Jesus gave these "gifts unto
men" (Eph.4:8) "For the perfecting (maturing 1Cor.13:9-12) of the saints, for the work of
the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. (Eph.4:11-16)
2. The Eph.4:11 ministries have the same responsibility as the sons of Aaron
They are responsible for blowing a "certain" (1Cor.14:7) sound to gather to "the day" of
Atonement. (Num.10:1-10, Lev.23:23-26) This is "the day" that Paul, the apostle and
(trumpet blower) was referring to in the epistle to the Hebrews. (Heb.10:25)
a. Context of Hebrews - "the day" of atonement (1) It is the theme of the preeminence of Christ, our High Priest entering the Most Holy
Place on the day of atonement (Heb.2:17; 3:1; 4:14-15; 5:1-10; 6:20; 7:26; 8:1-3;
9:7, 11, 25; 10:21) (Heb.10:25) (Why is there yet a future fulfillment?)
(2) The context of "the day" is also becoming "of full age" (Heb.5:10-15) because it is
directly linked together with Christ, our High Priest (Heb.3:1) being called "after the
order of Melchisedec. (Heb.6:20; 7:1-28)
(3) Them "that are of full age" is also "going on unto perfection." (Heb.5:10-25; 6:1-3,
Eph.4:11- 12, 1Cor.13:9-12)
(4) Perfection is the "stature of Christ" (Eph.4:11-13) This is the sound that the apostle was
blowing when wrote "Till we all come (time-table) in the unity of the faith, and of the
knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of
the fulness of Christ." (Eph.4:11-13, 1Cor.13:9-12) Obviously the Church has not yet
come to a "perfect man!" (Review: The Conclusion)
(5) Early Church did not attain this and spiritual declined down into the dark ages. (Review: Phase.2 and Samson)
Note: At present the Church is being restored back to where the 1st Century failed
after the Feast of Pentecost. (Just as Joel prophesied Joel.2:21-27)
Now we need to have an ear to hear the Trumpet sound! http://www.jimfeeney.org/hearingthevoiceofGod.html
3. No one else was to blow with these trumpets The "sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an
ordinance for ever throughout your generations." (Num 10:8-9)
a. Only those appointed by God. Now "hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him...
(1Cor.12:18) "Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of
miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?" The
answer is no.
(1) How then does God appoint (ordain) the Eph.4:11 ministries?(1Cor.12:29-31) Click here for explanation b. There are false trumpet sounds today! (and in these last, of the last days)
(1) False apostle. (2Cor.11:1-15)(Antichrist will be a false apostle)
(2) False prophets (2Peter.2:11, Acts.13:6, 1John.4:1, Rev.16:13; 19:20)
(3) False evangelists ( )
(4) False pastors (Jer.23:1-4, Acts.20:29 )
(5) False teachers (2Peter.2:1, 2Tim.4:1-4)
c. The true test is are they self appointed? He "that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him,
the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him." (John 7:18)
(1) Adonijah. (1Kings.1:1-53)
(2) Absalom. (2Sam.15:1-10; 18:18)
d. Some teach that there are no apostles and prophets today.
All they have seen as the "false" (counterfeit) which makes the predjurdist against the real.
genuine ministries. They teach that these ministries stopped after the death of John,
(90-100 A.D.) John stopped, but the "gift" did not! (Eph.4:1-11)
(1) Being an apostle had absolutely nothing to do with John's personality
In fact, Paul writes these abilities are "dung!" (i.e. any refuse, as the excrement of
animals, offscouring, rubbish, dregs, etc.:(A.V., dung) i. e. worthless and detestable)3
(Phil.3:1-8, Isa.64:6)
(2) After the death the apostle John, (approx.90-100 A.D.?) The Church like Samson failed to have a hearing ear and "turned aside to see
the carcase (or the dead works Heb.6:1, Eph.2:1, Matt.23:27) of our adversary,
(1Peter.5:8) the defeated (Col.2:15) lion." (Judges.14:5-8) The Church like Samson
handled it and tasted the honey in it and defiled their vow of separation, as a
Nazarite. (Col.2:21)
(3) The result of this mixture
It was a lack of separation from the "philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of
men." (Col.2:8) This is what replaced the Apostle and Prophet. It was man's
government and authority. (approx.100 AD.) God did not stop the gift! Man stopped it! The Church did not take heed to the warnings of the apostles. (Acts.20:28-29,
2Cor.11:1-15, 1John.2:15-18, Jude.1:1-4)
(Click here for full explanation of chart below) .
. Note: The responsibility of the apostle and prophet is the foundation of the Church,
Jesus Christ. (Matt.16:18, Eph.2:20-22, 1Cor.3:10-11, Psa.11:3) This forsaking of the
apostle and prophet began the decay of the Church that corrupted, decayed the foundation.
of the Church. (Eph.2:20-22) The result was a steady decline into the "dark ages" for a
1000 years.
The sons of Aaron were responsible for blowing the correct sound (a "certain" sound) from the same trumpets
The "sons of Aaron, the priests, (the apostle, prophet, Evangelists, Pastor and teacher Eph.4:11-16) shall blow with the trumpets; (the prophetic Word of God) and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations. And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the Lord your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies. Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the Lord your God." (Num.10:8-10) Note what Aaron and his sons (The apostle, prophet, evangelists, pastor and teaching) were responsible (accountable) for.
1. They are accountable for the Church Obey "them that have the rule over you, and submit
yourselves: for they watch (to be sleepless, stay awake)
for your souls, as they that must give account, (because
they are stewards of God's flock) that they may do it with
joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you."
(Heb.13:17-18) Woe to the Shepherds! (Jer.23:1-8)
a. Be not many masters (teachers)
My "brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we
shall receive the greater condemnation. (James.3:1)
b. Not to take dominion over Not "for that we have dominion over your faith, but are
helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.(2.Cor.1:24)
(1) All under the covering of the cloud There was no laity and clergy. Some were
responsible for the sound. Greater responsibility,
does not mean more important! (Note: The
parable of the talents. Matt. 25:13-30)
(2) Diotrephes Johnwrote "the church: but Diotrephes, who
loveth to have the preeminence among them,
receiveth us not." (3John.9) This is where the
pattern corrupted by man's pride. John wrote, "I
will remember his deeds." (3John.10) There
was an accounting of his stewardship coming
for Diotrephes.
c. Moses became angry with the people Moses "and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto
them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? And Moses lifted up his
hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the
congregation drank, and their beasts also. And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron,
Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye
shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them." (Num.20:10-12)
Moses went from servant to dictator. no promised land. Compare: (1Cor.9:27)
2. Accountable for a trumpet sound for leading Make "two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them
for the...journeying of the camps" (Num.10:2) when the cloud lifted up. (Num.9:15-23)
a. The cloud foreshadows the Holy Spirit (1) God's Glory appeared in the cloud
(2) God's voice was in the cloud
(3) The fire of God was in the cloud
b. Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth (1) Ministry lead by the Spirit of God
(2) Accountable, proven ministry
(3) Not blind cult like following. We are to prove all things.
3. For calling the assembly together Make "two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them
for the calling of the assembly" (Num.10:2)
a. Assembly When "they (Aaron and his sons v.8) shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble
themselves to thee at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation." (Num.10:3-4,
Heb.10:25 Atonement) The day.
b. The wrong sound would bring confusion But when the congregation is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an
alarm." (Num.10:7-8) If the wrong sound was made, then there would confusion. Herein is
part the problem for the Church today.
(1) It is not always the peoples fault! However some don't listen.
(2) Some are presuming they are 5 fold and should not be blowing a sound to
the Church universal.
(3) Some apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers fold are confused
in their sounds. THey are not blowing a "certain sound."
4. A one trumpet sound, gathered the leaders If "they (Aaron and his sons v.8) blow but with one trumpet, then the princes, which are heads of
the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee." (Num.10:4-5) . .
