(Continued from Page.1 (New Testament Priesthood)
. The Priesthood of the last day Church
Ezekiel prophesied that "the priests the Levites, the sons of Zadok, that kept the charge of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from me, they shall come near to me to minister unto me, and they shall stand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood, saith the Lord God: They shallenter into my sanctuary, (the last day Church) and they shall come near to my table, to minister unto me, and they shall keep my charge." (Ezek 44:15-16)
1. How do we know that Ezekiel is prophesying to us? (Review: Phase.6) a. First, when was Ezekiel prophesying?
Ezekiel was prophesying " In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity."
(Eze.1:1-2, 2Chron.26:1-21)
(Most of this chart is complied by just reading the Bible from Genesis to Revelation)
b. Next question is: (Note #2)
"Did Ezekiel's prophecy about Zadok and his sons happen between his time of the Babylonian captivity? The
answer is no. (2Chron.36:1-21) (Review: Phase.6)
Obviously, the Word of the Lord through Ezekiel (1Peter.1:10-12) did not come to pass during the 70 year
Babylonian captivity because the City and the Temple laid in ruins. (2Chron.36:1-21, Dan.1:1-2)
c. After the 70 year captivity (Note #4)
The city and the Sanctuary was built again as Daniel prophesied it would. (Dan.9:24-26, Ezra and Nehemiah)
The restored Temple did not did not attain to what Ezekiel prophesied during the time of Ezra and Nehemiah.
(1) Compare
Compare Ezra.3:1 - Neh.13:31 with Eze.40:1 - 47:23)
(2) The Prophet Haggai said,
"Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? (i.e. Solomon's Temple) and how do ye see it
now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing? (Hag 2:3-4, Ezra.5:1-2) (Review: Phase.6)
d. Now there is the 400year silent period
This is the time of prophetic silence between the Old and New Testament. This silence was broken by John
the Baptist. The forerunner of Jesus. (Matt.3:1-4, Luke.3:2, John.1:6-8, John.1:19-28) No record of Ezekiel's
Temple during this time.
e. When Jesus came to confirm the Covenant
This was the covenant that God (Dan.9:27, John.1:11, Gal.4:13-17) made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
(Rom.11:28; 15:8) He said, He was the Temple now and their earthly Temple would be destroyed and left
desolate. (John.2:18-22, Matt.23:38-39; 24:1-2, 15-22) No record of Ezekiel's Temple during this time.
f. After confirming the Covenant for 3½ years
Jesus was crucified ("cut off") "in the midst of the week" causing "the sacrifice and the oblation to
cease." (Dan.9:27) Animal sacrifices had now stopped because Christ fulfilled what they foreshadowed. Their
purpose was to bring us to Christ. (Gal.4:24)
g. Now the Temple is the Church Now Christ is the head of the Church which is His Body, (Eph.1:22-23) the Temple, the House of God.
(1Tim.3:14, Eph.2:20-22, 1Peter.2:5)
Now Ezekiel's word has gone through the Cross into the
New Testament. (Acts.7:48-49; 17:24)
j. This is why Ezekiel's word is speaking to us, the Church
As of this moment in God's time-table (purpose, intent) we are being built a "holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye
also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit." (Eph 2:21; 4:11-16, 1Peter.2:5) This finished
(perfected, completed building) will have a priesthood like that of Zadok and his sons.
Remember, Ezekiel's word cannot go pass the Second Coming into the Millennium because Ezekiel's
Temple is a prophecy concerning Restoration. (Acts.3:19-25, Rev.10:7; 11:15)
