The Day of Atonement  Page 2
Continued from "The Day of Atonement" (Page.1)
Why is Atonement still in the future?

Paul wrote, we have now received the atonement. (Rom 5:10-12) For "if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement." Daniel prophesied that Messiah (Jesus) would "make reconciliation for iniquity," (Dan.9:24) and Paul wrote that He (Jesus) reconciled "both (Jew and Gentile) unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby." (Eph 2:16-17, Heb.9:1-26, Col.1:20) Why then is there still a cleansing for the Church?

The answer is in Israel's Feast, Festival or holy days.

The apostle says, "
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, (festival, feast day)or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow ( a blueprint, sketchy outline, model 1Cor.10:1-11, Rom.15:4
of things to come; but the body is of Christ." The fulfillment, completion, reality is in Christ.
(Col 2:16-18, Matt.5:17-19)

1.  Three set times in the year Israel celebrated Feasts

Three times in a year "shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he
shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, (Luke.22:1) and in the feast of weeks, and in
the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the Lord empty:
Every man shall give
as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee.
     (Deut.16:16-17, Lev.23)

2.  The first two feasts have been historically fulfilled.

Passover was fulfilled at the Cross, (1Cor.5:7-8) and Pentecost on the day of Pentecost,
(Acts.2:1) establishing (Matt.18:16) that the 1st.century Church was on course to witness the
fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles. However, they did not obtain this but failed through
unbelief and descended into the "dark ages." (Review: Phase.2 "Why did the 1st.century
       Church stop")

3.  There has to be a fulfillment of that 3rd. great feast, the Feast of Tabernacles because
God is a "finisher." He would never begin this pattern of the Feast days without completely
     them. (Luke.14:25-33, Phil.1:6)
The last great Feast (that includes the day of atonement)

has not been completed.

Therefore it is the "inspiration of God" (2Tim.3:16) saying that there is a future cleansing
needed for the Church. (This cleansing is needed to prepare the Bride for Christ)
                    .

This Feast had the harvest of the Grapes and Olives

While the trumpets were blowing (Lev.23:23-24) until the 15th. day of the 7th. month, it was fruit (vintage) harvest time. After the 15th. day, the harvest was finished(Lev.23:39)

1.  Israel had two harvests.
     God said, "
I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees
of the field shall yield their fruit.
And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the
vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your
     land safely."
(Lev 26:4-6, Rom.1:20)

                                          (Review: Phase 3)

2.  Harvest foreshadows people
     "
But when (Jesus) saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because
they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
Then saith he unto his
     disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers (1Cor.3:9) are few;
Pray ye
therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest."

(
Matt 9:36-10:1)
     a.  Joseph also saw people as "sheaves" of wheat. (Gen.37:5-11)

b.  David wrote of "
He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, (1Peter.1:23)
shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, (Luke.15:7) bringing his sheaves with him.

  (Psa.126:6)

3.  This second harvest foreshadows a great ingathering of people to the Wedding.

Just as there was a great ingathering (i.e. grain harvest) during the time of the 1st.century
Church, there is foreshadowed a another great "ingathering" (Exod.23:14-16, Note:v.16)
during the time of the last day Church. Jesus said,
     a.  The "harvest is the end of the world." (Matt 13:39)
     b.
A "certain man made a great supper, and bade many..."(to) "Come; for all things are now
          ready.
And they all with one consent began to make excuse." Then the "master of the house
being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring
in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
And the servant said, Lord, it
is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
And the lord said unto the servant,
Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be
filled." (Luke 14:16-23) A great harvest time just before the Wedding!

4.  Harvest finished after the 15th.day of the 7th.month
Finished because the Wedding is finished! This is an important part of the "blueprint" (model)
of the Old Testament "ensample" (1Cor.10:11 - type) because after the fulfillment of this feast
of Tabernacles, "power given to the beast to continue for 42 months." (Rev.13:5) There will be
no ingathering harvest during this time because the "the fullness [the full number]2 of the
Gentiles (i.e. every other Nation that are not Jews) be come in" (saved - Eph.2:1-19before the
     tribulation begins. (Rom.11:25, Luke.21:24)

Note: There is no harvest after the Second Coming either, because it is the 7th.day, the
Sabbath, the day of rest. No work!

(Review: Phase 10 for explanation of chart below. The order of events in Revelation)

     a.  There are saints (Dan.7:25, Rev.13:7) present during this "tribulation" that will be slain
          for their testimony. (
Rev.13:15) These are "saints" not the unredeemed. These have already
been Saved, Water Baptised and filled with the Holy Ghost. (Acts.2:37-38)
     b.  Food for thought.
"Who are these saints?" There is a clearly two groups of "saints."

There is those who "keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus
          Christ."
(Rev.12:1-17) This group is protected from the antichrist. Then there are those that
the antichrist wears out, and kills because they refused his mark.
(Rev.13:5, Dan.7:25,
Rev.12:17) Even in Rev.20:9 there is "the Beloved City (the Bride - Rev.21:9-10) and the
          camp of the saints."

The key words are "remnant of her seed." (Rev.12:17) Therefore, identifying the Rev.12

Woman is "pivotal!"   Details Phase 12

     b.  There are also saints,
a remnant (Rom.9:27) of "the children of the flesh of Abraham"
(The Jews) (Dan.9:8) that have been "graffed in again" (Luke.19:44, Rom.11:23-25)
as the "two witnesses" (Moses / Law and Elijah / Prophets - Luke.16:29-31) did "confirm"
          the remainder of the covenant.
(Dan.9:24, 27) This was the covenant that Jesus began "to
          do and teach"
(Acts.1:1, John.1:11) before He was "cut off" in "the midst of the week."

(Dan.9:27)

 Review: Phase 5, page.4page.5

5.  Grapes foreshadow the joy of the Holy Ghost

Grapes are the fruit of the vine (Vintage - Lev.26:5, Judges.8:2, Isa.16:10-11; 24:13, Micah.7:1)
and teach us about the "invisible things (2Cor.4:18) of him from the creation of the world."
     (Rom.1:20, Col.1:16, Heb.1:1-2)

a.  Jesus brought the thought of a wedding, new garment and new wine together.

(Matt.9:15-17, John.2:1-10)

     b.  On the day of Pentecost, they said, "These men are full of new wine." (Acts 2:13)
     c.  The apostle Paul says, "be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the
Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making
melody in your heart to the Lord." (Eph 5:18-19, Acts.2:13, Matt.9:17)

Note: This is the pattern of worship (Psa.150) that God gave David, (1Chron.28:19,
          2Chron.29:25-26) which
was incorporated into the Temple worship (2Chron.5:1-14)
in the seventh month. (2Chron.5:3) This was the time of the fruit harvest. (The vintage.
The Grapes / Wine and the Oil / Olives / Lev 26:4-6, Rom.1:20)

(For explanation of why the Church is at the time of David in the pattern, click here)

     d.  Isaiah prophesied that the wine (vineyards, vintage) of Moab would have no "gladness...

singing" or "shouting" with "the treader's" that tread out the wine in their presses."
(Isa 16:10-11) For those that walk with God there is gladness, singing, shouting. There
is "making a "joyful noise unto the Lord."

     e.  Joel prophesied that "t
he vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree,
the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy
is withered away from the sons of men."
(Joel 1:12-13)

This feast in the 7th.month was a Joyful, yet solemn!
Joyful because it is preparation for the Wedding. Solemn because in this preparation is
judgment happening in the House of God. (Review: Day of Atonement)

6.  The Olives foreshadows the anointing of the Holy Ghost
Moreover the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Take thou also unto thee principal spices,
     ...sweet cinnamon...sweet calamus...cassia five and...oil olive (from the olives - Micah.6:15,
     Exod.27:20; 30:24-24)
And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment...it shall be an holy
anointing oil." (Ex 30:22-26) David prophesied concerning Jesus, "therefore God, thy God, hath
anointed thee (Jesus) with the oil of gladness above thy fellows." (Psa.45:6-7, Heb.1:1-9) Luke
interprets David calling the "oil of gladness" is the Holy Ghost.
(Acts.10:38)
     a.  This olive oil made the Tabernacle functional. (Exod.40:1-38) "By one Spirit are we all
Baptized into one body." Made functional. (1Cor.12:13)
     b.  This olive oil was used the anoint Aaron as the high priest and his sons into the office of
the Priesthood.(Exod.28:41) Jesus was anointed (John.1:33) as our High Priest.
(Heb.3:1) We were anointed (Acts.2:37-38) into service as a "royal priesthood."
           (1Peter.2:5-9)

     c.  This olive oil was used to place kings into power and authority. (1Sam.10:1; 16:13,
          1Kings.1:39)
The Greek word for "power" is "dunamis" - meaning power as kings and priests.
          (1Peter.2:5-9, Rev.1:6; 5:10)

There is much more to be said about the day of atonement

This study is only an introduction. "A
s it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. (1 Cor 2:9-11) "

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you."
(John 16:13-15)

When the Holy Spirit does reveal more concerning the day of Atonement, I will add it into this study.
