Defective Offerings (A form of godliness) Page.1 of 2

(Offerings, Sacrifice, Oblation are referring to the same thing)

Offerings is not just money!

As a "royal priesthood" we are to offer "spiritual sacrifices." (1Peter.2:5-9) which are the reality of the five Levitical offerings that the priesthood offered in the Church in the wilderness. There was the Sin Offering (for our sin). The Trespass Offering (the forgiveness of our faults / trespasses, towards God and each other after being saved). The Burnt Offering (Our holiness
/ consecration / separation beyond salvation. The Meal Offering (This is our giving of material things / good works) and the Peace Offering (our worship and praise) In other words, it is our lifestyle, our whole being. It is NOT just money! It is about be prepared as a Bride for Christ.

Our Offerings (lifestyle) must be without blemish

The Bride will be "a glorious church...without blemish."  In the pattern (blueprint, model, ensample) of the Law no offering could be "Blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a wen, or scurvy, or scabbed, ye shall not offer these unto the Lord, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar unto the Lord.
Either a bullock or a lamb that hath any thing superfluous or lacking in his parts, that mayest thou offer for a freewill offering; but for a vow it shall not be accepted. Ye shall not offer unto the Lord that which is bruised, or crushed, or broken, or cut; neither shall ye make any offering thereof in your land. Neither from a stranger's hand shall
ye offer the bread of your God of any of these because                        (Review: Bible Language)
their corruption is in them, and blemishes be in them:
they shall not be accepted for you." (Lev.22:21-25)

1.  The Priest and the Offering can NOT have any
     blemish.
 (Lev.21:16-24; 22:21-25)
Aaron (the high priest) was told if there is any of "thy
seed...hath any blemish, let him not approach."
     a.  The Priest
Christ is our High Priest, (Heb.3:1) and
we are His seed, (Gal.3:16.29) the
Priesthood (His seed). no blemish is to be found in
          us.
 (1Peter.2:5-9, Rev.1:6; 5:10, Eph.5:26-27)

b.  The Offering
Whosoever "offereth a sacrifice...there shall be no blemish therein." (Lev.22:21-25)

We (the unblemished Priesthood) are to offer up unblemished "spiritual sacrifices.
            (1Peter.2:5-9, Rom.12:1-2, Phil.4:18, Heb.13:15-16)
      c.  Note these key words
Neither "from a stranger's hand shall ye offer the bread of your God of any of these
because their corruption is in them, and blemishes be in them: they shall not be
          accepted for you." (Lev.22:21-25)

(1)  Stranger

The "stranger" is the heathen, those outside the covenants of promise, the
unsaved, the unredeemed. The natural man. The wisdom of this world. (Eph.2:1-11,
                   1Cor.1:19-29)

          (2)  Their corruption is in them
Paul writes, (Rom.7:18) under the inspiration of God, "that in me (that is, in my flesh,)
dwelleth no good thing..." The "corruption" is born into you. (Rom.3:23; 5:12-21; 6:23
Your offering must be "without blemish" (Lev.22:21-25, Eph.5:26) that "no flesh
should glory in His presence." (1Cor.1:19-29)

(Click here for review of the Tabernacle)

The pattern / blueprint has not changed!

When the Lord Jesus Christ came, He fulfilled (completed) the Law of the Offerings. He
did
not
destroy them.(Matt:5:17-19, Rom.3:19-31, Heb.9:1-26; 10:1)
Therefore the pattern (or the
blueprint) that required no blemishes has not been destroyed either. They continue in their reality in the Body Christ / The Church. This is why it says many times in the Law, "this statute will be forever." (Exod.29:28; 30:21) Forever can only be in Jesus Christ!

1.  There will be a "glorious church...holy and without blemish."
     Paul writes t
hat Jesus will "present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or
wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish...This is a great
mystery: but I speak concerning Christ (The head) and the Church (The Body)"
     (Eph 5:27, 32)
     a.  Christ the head of the Church
He (Jesus) "is  the head of the body, the
           church
: who is the beginning, the firstborn from
the dead; that in all things he might have the
          preeminence." (Col.1:18-19, Eph.1:22-23;
           5:21-33, 1Peter.2:5)

           A "great mystery!"

     b.  The Church is the body of Christ
"As the body (our mortal bodies) is one, and
hath many members, and all the members of
that one body, being many, are one body:
so is Christ." (1Cor.12:12-13) Body and head
          are one.
Jesus (the head) fulfilled (i.e. showed
the reality of the offerings in Himself)
so should
we as the "the righteousness of the law (of
these unblemished offerings) might be fulfilled
          in us." (Rom.8:1-4)

Note:  If you are built upon Christ the Rock, (Mat.7:24-26) you will allow the reality

of the Sin, TrespassBurntMeal  and Peace offerings be fulfilled in you!

Check your offering, "does it have a blemish?" (defective?)

Many have the "form (the appearance) of the offerings..."  However they "deny the power thereof." (2Tim.3:5) Isaiah prophesied that, " this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honor me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward
me is taught by the precept (the wisdom) of men."
(Isa.29:13-14) God spoke to the House of Israel, by the mouth of Amos and said, "I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts." (Amos.5:21-23)

1.  Don't allow this world to "blemish" your offerings
     W
e "are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we
are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep,
(Prov.24:30-34, Matt.13:24-30) as do others; but
let us watch
     and be sober." (1Thes.5:4-6)

a.  While "men slept" the enemy sowed tares. (Matt.13:25)
            Jesus said, "
The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man
which sowed good seed in his field:
But while men slept, his
enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went
          his way."
(
Matt.13:24-26)
          (1)  What is sleeping?
                (a)  Sleeping is the same as being "void of understanding."

(Prov.24:30, Matt.19) Your understanding is your
                      spiritual eyes.
 (Eph.1:18)
Sleep happens from being
"slothful." A little slumber, (sleep, tired, weary -
                          Gal.6:9
) a little folding of the hands. (Prov.24:30)
          (2)  The enemy is the devil
                Peter says, "
Be sober, be vigilant; because your
adversary (enemy) the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh
about, seeking whom he may devour."
(
1Peter.5:8-9, Matt.13:39)
          (3)  The tares are the children of the "wicked one"
Jude warned about "certain men (tares) crept in unawares." (Jude.1:4) Peter called
                 the "spots and
blemishes" (2Peter.2:13) Paul warned the Church that these
                (tares) would "
spoil you...
                (a)  Through philosophy
                (b)  Vain deceit (delusion
                (c)  After the tradition of men
                (d)  After the rudiments of the world
                (e)  and not after Christ."
 (
Col.2:8-9) Not after the pattern of these five offerings!

We must stay wake! We must watch!
Don't let the enemy sow (infiltrate) the pattern of these Offerings!

     b.  This is the "tare" / "blemish" check list.
          (1)  No "blind" sacrifice (Lev.22:21-23)
The blemish of "blindness" (2Peter.1:5-9, Matt.13:10-17, Eph.1:18)  Some
translations use "heart" instead of "eyes."  This does not change the thought of
our lack of understanding is being blind. (Matt.13:16, Luke.24:16, 25-31, 2Cor.3:13-16,
                   Eph.4:18)
To offer a "spiritual sacrifice" (i.e. The Sin, Trespass, Burnt, Meal or Peace
Offering) devoid of the Word of God is a blemish of blindness, and is robbing God.
                   (Mal.1:8; 3:8) Note: Matt.23:23
                   (a)  God's Word / Sight / understanding
The insight of God's Word must be preeminent as we "offer up spiritual sacrifices
(offerings) offerings, or else it is "blemished" (defective) and God says, "I will
not accept them: neither will I regard
 " (Lev.22:21-23, Matt.5:17-19)
                  (b)  For example: The Sin Offering
If we think we are saved by a combination of Plato (tare) and God's Word, it is
"blemished" (defective) and rejected by God. There cannot be "blindness" in
any part of our Sin OfferingTrespass Offering, Burnt OfferingMeal Offering,

 or Peace Offering(Lev.22:21-23, Matt.5:17-19)
          (2)  No offering can be "broken" (Lev.22:22-23)
Unfaithfulness. (Prov.25:19) To offer any of these five offerings with unfaithfulness
in our life towards God is a blemished offering (Eph.5:26-27) and is robbing God.
                   (Mal.1:8; 3:8) Note: Matt.23:23
                   (a)  Faithfulness
Faithfulness / steadfastness must be preeminent in our
Sin OfferingTrespass
                      Offering
, Burnt OfferingMeal Offering, and Peace Offering "broken?"
                      (Lev.22:21-23)
                (b)  Required in a steward (No Blemish)
As a "steward" (1Peter.4:10) / "priest" (1Peter.2:5,9) I am to be faithful to
the "things of God," to remained unblemished. (No leaven)

          (3)  Each offering must not be maimed (Lev.22:22-23)
Maimed is to be crippled or damaged. English: is to mutilate, disfigure, or wound
seriously. The Hebrew word is to point sharply, i.e. (literally) to wound. To offer any
crippled offering is to deprive yourself the of capability for service or of strength,
                efficiency, or wholeness.

                Note:
Is your Sin OfferingTrespass Offering, Burnt OfferingMeal Offering
                and
 Peace Offering "maimed?" (Lev.22:21-23)

          (4)  Not "having a wen" (Lev.22:22-23)
Having an offering that is mutilated, disfigured, or wounded seriously is robbing
God. (Mal.1:8; 3:8 / Note: Matt.23:23) Paul spoke of those the "corrupt the Word of
God (2Cor.2:17) Jude wrote, that there were "certain men crept in unawares...
turning the grace of God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God,
                and or Lord Jesus  Christ."
(Jude.1:4) These "certain men" were disfiguring the
                Grace of God.

Note: Is your Sin OfferingTrespass Offering, Burnt OfferingMeal Offering
                and
Peace Offering "have a wen?" (Lev.22:21-23)

         (5)  Must not have "scurvy"
(Lev.22:22-23)
                  The word "
Scurvy" is from an unused root meaning to scratch;[ to scrape or rub
oneself lightly (as to relieve itching11) scurf (from itching12) In these "last days," there
are those that "heap to themselves teachers itching ears," because they will
               not "endure sound doctrine."
(2Tim.4:3) When we offer our "spiritual" sacrifices with
the "scurvy" of  the doctrines of men that appease our flesh, it is "robbing" God.
               (
Mal.1:8; 3:8)

Note:  Is your Sin OfferingTrespass Offering, Burnt OfferingMeal Offering,
               and
 Peace Offering have "scurvy?" (
Lev.22:21-23)

      (6)  Nothing "scabbed." (Lev.22:22-23)
                "Scabbed"- is
to stick or scrape; scurf [thin dry scales detached from the epidermis
especially in an abnormal skin condition; specifically : dandruff13] Our "spiritual
sacrifice / offering" must be without the "scab" blemish. Timothy was told that
"the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine," (that will build an
                Ark, board upon board.
Isa,28:9-11)
Instead they "shall heap to themselves teachers,
having itching ears / scabbed (with the
popular opinion, trends and fads of this
Church world, rather than abiding by the principles and patterns of God's Word.

(2Sam.15:24-29./v.17, 1Sam.15:24; 16:7, 2Cor.4:18)

Note: Is your Sin OfferingTrespass Offering, Burnt OfferingMeal Offering,

and Peace Offering "scabbed?" (Lev.22:21-23)

          (7)  No superfluous thing. (Lev.22:22-23)
Superfluous is a limb that is longer than the other. It is something in excess. Out of
                balance. Doe
s your Sin OfferingTrespass Offering, Burnt OfferingMeal Offering,

and Peace Offering have a "superfluous thing?" (
Lev.22:21-23)

(Review: Bible Language)
God says,if there is any of these blemishes

           "I will not accept them:
             neither will I regard"

This is why Malachi rebuked the House of Judah
you have robbed me in tithes
and offerings!
                   (Mal.1:1-10; 3:7-8)

The House Judah was offering defective (blemished) offerings

This caused God to send the prophet Malachi to Judah  to rebuke them by saying, "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee?" (we are offering offerings) (Mal.3:8-9) God's reply to them was, "if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? (Lev.22:21-23) and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? (Lev.22:21-23) offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the Lord of hosts." (Mal.1:8-9 / Mal.1:1-14)

1.  What lead Judah to this heart condition

The House of Judah had come out of the 70 year Babylonian captivity (2Chron.36:21,
      Jer.29:10, Lev.25:1-7)
and were to remain separate (Deut.6:10-15) unto the Lord and to
rebuilding the "city and the sanctuary." They rebuilt the "city and the sanctuary" (Temple),
but they became "entangled" (2Tim.2:4, Matt.13:22) with inhabitants (Ezra.9:1-2, Neh.6:3,
      Neh.6:16; 13:23-24)
and intermarried. (2Cor.11:3, James. 4:1-4)
The result was (or the fruit was)
     a.  Ingratitude. (Mal.1:1-5)
     b.  Irreligious. (Mal.1:6-11)
     c.  Profane. (Mal.1:12)
     d.  Priesthood profaned their covenant.
          (Mal.2:1-10)
     e.  Strange marriages. (Mal.2:11-12)
     f.   Treachery towards each other. (Mal.2:13-16)
     g.  Stout against God. (Mal.2:13)
     h.  They said it was vain to serve God. (Mal.2:14)
     i.   Impiety. (Mal.2:17)
     j.   Rebellion. (Mal.3:7)
     k.   Sacrilege. (Mal.3:8-12)
     l.    Infidelity of the people. (Mal.3:14-15)

2.  Today, we can Learn from the House of Judah's mistake
     a.  For "whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning that we
through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope."
 (
Rom.15:4-5)
     b.
All scripture (which includes Malachi) is given by inspiration of God,
         and is profitable for:-
         (1)  Doctrine (How to offer spiritual sacrifices unto the Lord)
         (2)  Reproof (Don't offer any blemished Offerings. God will not accept them)
         (3)  Correction (Allow the "water of the Word remove the blemish / mistake)
         (4)  Instruction in righteousness (The proper Offering at the proper time)
         (5)
That the man of God may be perfect, (1Cor.13:9-12, Eph.4:11-16) thoroughly
furnished unto all good works. (2Tim.3:16-17)
