The explanation is in the purpose of the 70 Week Prophecy
"Seventy Weeks are determined upon thy people (The Jews) and upon the holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sin, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy." (Dan.9:24) Review: Phase.5, Pages.4-5
a. The Prophecy begins with Babylon. (Daniel was in Babylonian captivity when he received
this vision.- Dan.1:1-21; 2:36-38; 9:1-27) The purpose not fulfilled.
b. Then Media-Persia. (7 Weeks / 49 years Dan.9:25, 2Chron.36:21-22, Ezra.1:1-4) The
purpose still not fulfilled.
c. Then Greece. (62 Weeks / 434 years Dan.2:39; 8:20; 11:1-2) The purpose is yet to be fulfilled.
This leaves seven years (one week) to fulfill the purpose!
2. Then, "after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for Himself:
This is the fulfillment of making "reconciliation for iniquity." (History for us!) There is no other
place where reconciliation is made! It is only through Jesus Christ, and now we enter into that
reconciliation by faith in Christ's blood.
a. Jesus the Messiah Cut off (Crucified)
(1) Jesus is identified as the Messiah. (John.1:29-41)
(2) God has "reconciled us unto Himself by Jesus Christ." (2Cor.5:18)
(3) He "might reconcile both (Jew and Gentile) unto God...by the Cross." (Eph.2:16)
Note: Romans (Rom.11:11:20-28) speaks of a future time given for Israel (the Jews,
the children of the flesh of Abraham Rom.9:7-8) to be "graffed...in again." (i.e. to be
reconciled (born again). This is entering into the "reconciliation" that the Messiah
(Jesus) has already made for them at the Cross.(Review: Phase.12, Page.6)
Therefore Jesus being "cut off" MUST be part of the remaining
seven years, because He makes reconciliation for iniquity!
____________________________________________________
Remember, this is part of the purpose of the 70 weeks
(1) "He" is now identified as Jesus, the Messiah who was "cut off" in the midst (middle) of
the week. (the seven years)
(2) The covenant that Jesus ("He") confirm's is the covenant the God Made with Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob. (Gal.3:16, Rom.15:8) That is why Jesus "came unto His own"
(John.1:11) to "confirm the covenant" (Gal.3:16, Dan.9:27) with many for 3½ years.
(This can be concluded by the number of Passovers that Jesus celebrated. Matt. )"
(3) The sacrifice and oblation (Offerings) are the animal sacrifices that "cease"
(Dan.9:27) because Jesus came to fulfill the Law and the Prophets. (Matt.5:17-19,
Heb.9:1-26; 10:1-10) There is no other record in scripture were the sacrifice and
oblation (Offerings) ceased after the Cross.
(a) Besides, the purpose of the "sacrifice and oblation" was to bring us to Christ
who fulfilled (completed) them into their reality. (Gal.3:24, Matt.5:17-19)
(b) They were only for "the time then present" until Christ came. (Heb.9:1-26; 10:1-10)
God did not have "pleasure" in these animal sacrifices anyway, because "it is
not possible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sin." (Heb.10:4)
.
To Summarize
This is why the seven years (of confirmation) are separated into two 3½ year periods.
1. It is seven years of confirmation
All seven years of the 70th. week are for confirmation because Daniel prophesied that "he"
shall confirm a covenant for one week." (7 years) Therefore to teach that "he" will change his
mind in the "midst of the week" is to "add" to God's Word. (Note: Prov.30.5)
.
2. The first 3½ years of the confirmation
(a) This was when "Jesus began to do and teach" (Acts.1:1) confirming the Covenant that
God made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. (John.1:11, Gal.3:16, Rom.15:8)
(b) In the "midst" (the middle) of this confirmation, (after 3½ years) Jesus was "cut off"
(Crucified on the Cross) and made"reconciliation for iniquity."

This is why the 70th week is divided into to 3½ periods
3. The remaining 3½ years of the confirmation
This is revealed in the Book of Revelation, where the two witnesses (Moses / The Law and
Elijah / The Prophets) will confirm the remainder of the Covenant.
Between the Cross and the remaining 3½ years
The people of the prince (Titus 70 AD) comes and destroy's the city and the sanctuary." (Dan.9;24, Matt.23:38-39, Matt.24:1-3, 15-22. Mark.13:1-4, 14-20. Luke.21:5-7, 20-24) This was during the time of the Rome Empire / The fourth and dreadful beast / strong as iron Dan.7:7; 2:40) This abomination (of offering animal sacrifices rather than trusting in the shed blood of Christ for forgiveness of sins) God made desolate. This desolation (astonishment, amazement) has overspread over these last two days. Leaving no place for it ti happen again.
